Notes and comments
Message from the beginning of the 2020 Season
We have twelve (12) teams this year including a few new players.  One less tee time should
help with finishing before dark.
As a reminder, my team always tees off last.  So unless you’re playing against Team #1, you’
ll never have the last tee time.  As such, we in the last tee slot would appreciate a well paced
round, especially during the being of the season and nights with heavy cloud cover.  Thank
you.
This is a fun league with no cash prizes or large prizes.
For this year, I have increased the number of contests each week.

  • Each week I will have cards pre-printed for your group.  One card per group.
  • Each card will have your names, handicaps, contests, holes, yardage, tee times, etc.
  • You just enter the scores and turn them into me or place them in the mailbox on the
    patio at Milham.
  • The weekly standings and messages should be completed by Friday of each week…
but don't hold me to that.  I usually update everything late at night well after 10 or
    11pm.
  • Weekly contests are posted on the web site and will be noted on the card each week.
Skill contests like longest drive, closest to the pin, etc., will win a sleeve of balls.  What
type?  Well, I have to sort out all the ones I bought in the last month.  If we are close to
the end of the season and I still have sleeves, then I will add a few more contests.
  • Our tee times run start at 5:32pm and go every 8 minutes.  The 2020 schedule will be
    available on the website.

PLEASE BE READY BY YOUR TEE TIME IF NOT A FEW TEE TIMES BEFORE.
  • If you or your partner or your opponents are not ready at your assigned tee
time, the foursome at the next tee time team will take your place.  This pattern
will be followed until a group is ready to tee off.  Your group should always tee
off at or before your assigned tee time (unless you’re the group that was late).
  • Last year we had a group ahead of us hold us up.  Obviously if that happens
again we won't hold that against the people teeing off.
  • I will try to alert you to any new features but check out the entire web site weekly for
    changes.
  • I will be updating the 2020 Rules based on feedback from last year.

  • If you have any suggestions for the web page, please let me know.  I'd be happy to add
a link or a favorite story or something like that.

  • Please be aware of potential damage to the course.  Fix any ball marks you see while
you are on the green.  I know I fixed a bunch of them on both Tuesdays and
Wednesdays.  Also, rake the traps if you see that it needs it.  You don't have to fix
every ball mark or rake every foot print, but taking a little time to keep the course
looking nice will hopefully encourage others to do the same.  Thanks.

  • Please be ready and at the tee area before your scheduled time.  Typically a round
should last 2 1/4 hours to 2 1/2 hours max.  There may be weeks when the weather
causes everyone to play slower buy keep in mind you should always be in sight of the
group ahead of you.  We may or may not have a league behind us but when the sun
sets later we should have people teeing off after us.  Please remember golf etiquette
and keep pace with the group ahead of you.

  • Stroke limits on the holes are double par.  If you reach double par and have not holed
out, please pick up and write down the score either circling it or putting a "P" next to it.
    Thank you.

  • We are playing winter rules.  Especially in the spring with the rain and the muck you
may lift, clean and place your ball through the green.  You may not do this in a sand
trap.  However if there is water in the trap, you may move your ball out of the water.  If
you have any questions, please contact me.

Please be sure to refer to the guidelines such as Pace of Play.
SOME OBSERVATIONS ON PACE OF PLAY AND GOLF CARTS
We understand that many of today’s golfers are relatively new to rules and etiquette of
the game. Pace of Play and golf cart do’s and don’ts are not familiar with everyone.
Here are a few of the prominent suggestions.
Once on the green, put your clubs near the back of the greens in a
position that will decrease the amount of time it takes to safely clear the
green.
Always remember your position on the golf course is relative to the group
in front of you, not behind you. “We were not holding anyone up” is not a
viable excuse for playing nine holes in more than 2 ½ hours. (League play
is sometimes longer but this is still important guideline)
The golf course is not a practice range. Multiple balls played on a hole
could lead to clubhouse intervention.
Partners in carts should use the “drop off” method in order to take full
advantage of the golf car’s speed from point A to point B.
When approaching your ball, start locating yardage indicators so that you
have a good idea of your yardage before you arrive at your ball.
Replace your divots and repair your ball marks can never be said enough.
Obey the cart signs and ropes for traffic control on the course.
